Price Gathering

Branded products can only be sold at locations under a specific supplier’s name or brand.  Unbranded products are sold at independent locations, where a customer can purchase unbranded product from an unbranded supplier.

No. Contract prices are prices the supplier sends to specific customers with whom they have a contract. Therefore, contract prices are not open to all potential customers. DTN FastRacks data comes from wholesale prices only, which are open to all potential customers.

We gather pricing data from our wholesale network in multiple ways. The preferred method is by electronically pulling wholesale pricing from jobbers who use DTN services. We also gather data from faxes, emails, recorded supplier messages, and verbally. This information is then manually entered into DTN applications.

A supplier should maintain a steady supply of product(s), sell to anyone that meets their customer terms of agreement, supply DTN FastRacks pricing information on a daily basis or an agreed upon schedule, price is not customer specific, not a contract price or not re-posted on another or multiple suppliers’ rack price.

More than 80 suppliers provide pricing files directly to us for use in DTN FastRacks products. However, some companies are unable to publish pricing data in this way. Pricing from these companies is collected through DTN’s extensive wholesale network. This allows us to electronically process approximately 98% of the data.

No. Because DTN doesn’t create this information, we don’t have any control over how prices are set. Instead, this is controlled by the suppliers. We gather that information and distribute it to our customers.

No. DTN FastRacks doesn’t create pricing data. Instead, we gather pricing information that is created by actual suppliers. This is the same wholesale pricing data that suppliers release or send to their customers. Since DTN FastRacks prices are informational only, pricing is not released until the prices are effective.
